A positive attitude is by far the biggest contributor to our level of joyfulness.

A colleague will sometimes go over some negative story about a bad childhood experience. It is not the first time the story has been shared and it is obvious to all but her that no one wants to hear about it "again".

Negativity is like darkness and positivity is like sunshine. No one wants to hang around in the dark once they have experienced living in the sunshine.

Wonderfully written sound advice on here, people tend to forget that negativity breeds disease. It is quite tough to continue a positive attitude when you are not getting that direction from either co-workers or your supervisors.

Once in awhile a pat on the back can be like an extra 10 gallons of gas that will fuel your work ethics to new levels.

Attitude is something that can indeed be cultivated and changed. The old paradigm that everything is fixed through genes and education is now being replaced by the view that the mind CAN be adapted. Something the Bhuddhists know since more than 2500 years.

Very true. You can go no wrong with a candidate with the right attitudes. Attitudes do not grow over-night. sometimes, it takes a lifetime to develop them. On the other hand, skills and competencies can be easily developed given the right attitude.

I love and appreciate the clarity of this post. Clarity is power and peace. Your blog reinforces my belief that "Attitude is a Choice". I particulary liked the point made of "branding yourself". It is not just attitude. When I try and hire an assistant, I want them to show me that they really want the job. I am ready willing and able to work the next day if necessary. Also gratitude is a big plus. Thank you for interviewing. Wanting to be there and showing up every day is half the battle in most jobs.

I agree with you totally on the whole positive attitude in the work place. As a previous employee that did the hiring and firing, if there were 2 canidates that had the exact same resume, the one that had the most poasitive attitude got the job. I have even gone as far as hiring someone with less qualifications with a great attitude over someone that had the qualifications and a sorry attitude. Great post.
